Outside Plant Engineering Designer   (Full-time)

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with third-party suppliers to produce designs for aerial and underground fibre optic infrastructure.
• Produce various types of plans, including cable & splicing plans, conduits etc.
• Update and maintain design databases and system maps, both backbone and distribution base maps, cable/fiber routes, splice records, and addresses.
• Import AutoCAD, TIFF or other file formats and hard copy maps to create electronic base maps for outside plant designs. 
• Review and provide quality control for designs produced by third parties.
• Incorporate field changes and update draft prints to the system database.
• Submit designs to Provincial, Regional, Municipal and speciality permit authorities and follow for necessary approvals.
• Create and validate detailed bill of material lists and construction work orders.
• Determine methods to design the plant changes with minimal impact to the system/customer, while minimizing related construction cost and ensuring quality of design.

About you: 

• College Diploma in Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in underground FTTX design, or similar networks.
• Experience with AutoCAD and GIS Systems required. (Experience with 3-GIS an asset).
• Solid knowledge of municipal permitting standards and processes.
• Knowledge of technical standards for the design of aerial outside plant would be an asset.
• Excellent Quality Control skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal,
• Experience working with external vendors or partners.

• Self-disciplined; able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly energetic environment.

• Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency and prioritization.
• Team player, autonomous, and adaptable.

Conditions of Employment: Prior to the start date, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire.
