Overview:

Junction Public Market is Vancouver’s unique container shop market by the harbour.  We’re looking for enthusiastic Hospitality Staff to help us deliver superior guest service to Vancouverites and visitors alike.  

The ideal candidate will have some experience working at a bar, preferably in an events and attractions setting, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude. Familiarity with Square POS is considered an asset.

Hospitality Staff will be responsible for serving guests in our licensed area, responding to vendor requests in our market, assisting live entertainment set-ups at our stage, and assisting community and corporate event partners who have booked our facilities.

Hospitality Staff must be Serving It Right certified.  Food Safe and Work Safe certifications are beneficial.

Responsibilities

Guest Relations:

• Represent Junction Public Market to the public with a friendly, welcoming and helpful manner.

Bar Operations:

• Serve guests from our Sipping Container bar
• Provide table service as required
• Buss tables and maintain a clean, presentable patio
• Clean and maintain bar equipment as required
• Assist with stocking and inventory 
• Operate our POS system (Square)

Vendor & Site:

• Respond to vendor requests and maintenance tickets.
• Provide access for scheduled food trucks.
• Maintain site cleanliness in conjunction with property management 
• Ensure signage and selfie stations are well-maintained.

Event Execution & Logistics:

• Help install décor for special events.
• Help set-up The Music Box container stage for performances 
• Help set-up of the portable sound system for background music.
• Perform front-of-house duties for private events, community festivals and special events such as Oktoberfest.
• Help sell tickets at the door 
• Assist with decor, set-up of pop-up tents, tables and chairs.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable climbing ladders for setup and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.).

Technical Skills:

• Experience with Square is an asset.

Additional Skills:

• Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly customer centric attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with vendors, security, and event partners.

Market Hours:
April 15 - 30:       Site construction and vendor load-in.
May 1 - Sept 28:  Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Oct 3 - Nov 2:      Friday to Sunday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Nov 3 - Dec 3:     Market closed to the public
Dec 4 - 23:          Monday to Thursday, 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM; Friday, 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM; Sunday, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM.
Dec 24:               Wednesday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Dec 26 - 28:        Vendor load-out, site disassembly, and load-out.

The Sipping Container bar hours may vary and may be open for extended hours on Friday and Saturday evenings, and for special events.
