General Sales Manager

A growing RV retail organization is seeking a proven General Sales Manager or senior sales leader to take ownership of a specialty dealership operation in a major metropolitan market.

This role is designed for a high-performing leader who enjoys building teams and driving measurable sales performance.

The opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building something great from a solid foundation. The store operates with a focused, specialized product line and a loyal customer base, but we are seeking the right leader to bring structure, accountability, and momentum to the sales organization.

The Opportunity

The right candidate will take ownership of the sales department’s performance, culture, and processes, helping transform a smaller specialized store into a highly productive operation.

This role requires someone who is both strategic and hands-on — a leader who can desk deals, develop people, improve closing ratios, and create consistent performance across the sales team.

We are particularly interested in leaders who understand how to analyze inventory performance, identify opportunities within aging inventory, and implement strategies that improve sales velocity while maintaining margin discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the sales department with clear accountability and performance expectations
  • Recruit, train, and mentor product specialists to consistently improve results
  • Establish and maintain disciplined sales processes from lead to delivery
  • Desk and structure deals to protect margins while maintaining strong closing ratios
  • Partner with finance leadership to maximize deal quality and customer experience
  • Manage and maximize inventory performance, ensuring proper mix, pricing strategy, and disciplined inventory turns
  • Identify and address aged inventory risks, implementing strategies to move aging units while protecting overall margins
  • Drive merchandising and inventory presentation that improves sales velocity and customer engagement
  • Strengthen lead management, follow-up processes, and showroom conversion
  • Build a culture focused on performance, professionalism, and customer satisfaction

Ideal Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of dealership sales leadership experience, preferably in:

  • RV
  • Automotive
  • Marine
  • Powersports
  • High-ticket retail environments

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • A track record of building strong sales teams and improving performance
  • Strong desking and deal-structuring ability
  • Experience managing inventory mix, aging, and sales pacing
  • Ability to lead through accountability, coaching, and clear expectations

The Right Leadership Profile

This role is best suited for someone who:

  • Is highly self-driven and performance-oriented
  • Enjoys the challenge of building and improving a dealership operation
  • Leads from the front and is comfortable being actively involved on the sales floor
  • Brings operational discipline and sales structure to the team
  • Understands how to balance inventory turn with margin performance
  • Is motivated by the opportunity to take a specialized store and turn it into a top-performing location

Compensation

A competitive compensation structure is offered for the right candidate, designed to reward leadership, sales performance, and departmental growth.

Confidential inquiries are encouraged and will be handled with discretion.
